It began with pain in my arm, and then it began moving up to my shoulder and neck – quite frightening. When I called a local practitioner and friend, she felt she could not handle the case. She herself felt overwhelmed, but she recommended an independent Christian Science in Plainfield.

I immediately called for help, and was met with love and confidence. I was given the 23rd Psalm to work with, with the reference to it in our textbook:
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for [LOVE] is with me; [LOVE's] rod and [LOVE'S] staff they comfort me…Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house [the consciousness] of [LOVE] for ever.”

Shortly after I hung up the phone, very unexpectedly, I became acutely aware of a resentment I had been holding for many years of a family member. I wept and wondered how I could have not seen this before, having studied Christian Science for many years. As I wept, the pain in my body subsided. Several hours later, I was able to report to the practitioner that I was healed.

As the practitioner said, only God could have brought this about. I am so grateful for the work of the practitioner, and for the Christian Science that Mary Baker Eddy has given us.
